About Us
Coppins is a family run nursery.  Meet Phil and Jenny Renouf.

Phil and Jenny have brought together a bewildering range of garden plants simply because they exhibit qualities of medicinal, culinary or aromatic value. From hardy trees like Betula pendula (Birch tar oil may be used in the treatment of eczema) to tender Basil, essential for fresh pesto. Plants are present from almost all groups, habitats and regions of the world.

Whilst many plants are unusual, most are easily recognisable. Phil is quick to point out that, plant breeders selected from commonly cultivated varieties to produce ornamentals so it not surprising that most ornamentals have more useful origins, hence old favourites like roses, clematis and marigold are still available in their season.

Jenny notices a shift in gardening values that she finds most welcome. Our customers are concerned with many global issues and demand greater accountability even in the garden. We are now helping gardeners to plant to encourage greater biodiversity, to reduce reliance on chemicals and to produce an environment that reaches beyond the ornamental. Understanding how we are linked to the plants around us has become part of how we view our own responsibilities.

Phil is the son of a grower and trained in horticulture so sound advice is readily available. Whether for a modest kitchen window box or an ambitious landscape using some of the huge specimen plants, you can be confident of success with guidance on planting and after care.
